WESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — No matter the setting, it was a good week for the Lewis County baseball team.
The Minutemen went 3-0 at Myrtle Beach, scoring double-digit runs in each game, then returned home to knock off Big 10 foe East Fairmont on the road on Monday.
First, Lewis County picked up an impressive in-state win while playing out-of-state, beating the Logan Wildcats, 13-5, on Tuesday.
Lewis County led 4-1 after a three-run second inning and it remained there until the Minutemen put up a 9-spot in the top of the seventh.
Joey Aman went 3 for 5 with a home run, double, three runs and two RBIs, Brayden Carder 2 for 4 with two runs and four RBIs and Trenton Hunt 2 for 4 with a run and three RBIs in the top three spots in the LC order.
Leo Jones added two hits, including a double, with two runs and an RBI and Joel Good also had two hits, two runs and an RBI.
Hunt was strong on the mound as well, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
On Thursday, the Minutemen scored in each of the last five innings, highlighted by five in the third and four in the seventh, to pull away and thump Jamestown (N.Y.), 13-1.
Drew Cayton and Joey Aman both homered and Cayton and Ryder Aman each doubled, with Cayton finishing with two runs and four RBIs, Joey Aman with three hits, two runs and two RBIs and Ryder Aman with a pair of runs and RBIs.
Carder was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI and Luke Clem added a hit, a run and two RBIs.
Carder pitched a complete game, limiting Jamestown to a run on four hits with six strikeouts.
The Minutemen capped their southern swing with a 10-4 victory against Pelion (S.C.) on Friday, breaking a 4-all tie with six runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Ryder Aman got the victory with four innings of scoreless relief and went 2 for 4 at the plate with two runs and three RBIs.
Carder, Cayton, Joey Aman and Hunt all doubled for the Minutemen, with Joey Aman finishing 2 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs.
Good added two hits and two runs, driving in a run.
Back in the Mountain State, Lewis County scored three runs in the top of the seventh to snap a 2-2 tie and hung on for the 5-3 win.
In the top of the first, Carder was hit by the pitch, Joey Aman walked, then Hunt followed with an RBi single.
Lewis County added on in the top of the third as Joey Aman worked another walk, Hunt reached on an error and an error on Ryder Aman’s fly ball scored Joey Aman.
East Fairmont crept back with single runs in the third and fifth innings.
Carder’s one-out double in the top of the seventh got LC going, then Joey Aman singled to put runners on the corners.
A walk to Hunt loaded the bases, then a wild pitch scored Carder.
Liam Jeffries then knocked in Joey Aman with a single to make it 4-2.
After Cayton was hit by the pitch to load the bases, Jones added an insurance run with a single.
Danny Raddish led off the Bee seventh with a home run, but, with the go-ahead run at the plate after two singles, Carder got a groundout to finish off the complete game, allowing three runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts.
Jeffries and Jones both had two hits and Carder and Joey Aman scored twice for the Minutemen.
Lewis County was at North Marion on Tuesday and will host rival Buckhannon-Upshur on Thursday at 6 p.m.
